EQ seems important, but we have more pressing initiatives at our company. Should we wait on this until the timing is better?

There is an old Chinese proverb that says;  "The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, and today."  


The decision is up to you of course, but we can tell you with certainty that progressive Organizations are not back burnering their investment in EQ Training.  Employee turnover is at unprecedented levels. There are multiple reasons for this, but one of the key drivers of attrition is failure of leadership to treat their workers for the "individuals" that they are.  We can no longer abide treating everyone the same...because frankly they aren't.  Emotional Intelligence training helps leaders better understand and relate to those on their teams as individuals. This in turn leads to improved Employee Engagement and reduced turnover.  Since you likely did not invest in EQ Training 20 years ago, the time to start is today!

I'm pretty smart, I can just figure EQ out on my own, right?

I read and see a lot about EQ these days.  Is it just a fad?

Emotional Intelligence and the behavioral science have been studied at the highest levels of academia for years now.  We live in interesting times - due to changing dynamics in the workplace caused by multiple factors, it has never been more critical to flex your EQ muscles.  We know that higher EQ people have faster upward trajectory in their careers and earn more than lower EQ individuals.  Plus they experience better communication outcomes both at work and at home.  Is EQ a fad...most definitely not!

I already get along with most everyone, why do I need this training?

It's not about just getting along.  Behavioral Science tells us that we regularly overestimate our ability to relate to others in a truly meaningful way.  It's kind of like the old adage:  The last person to know they have garlic on their you!  Why take a chance on something that is so critical?  For a nominal investment, you can assure yourself, your company and those around you that you are indeed Emotional Intelligent.
